MAGD award

I’m an MAGD dentist! What does that mean for you and your family?

MAGD stands for Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Earning Mastership takes dedication to dental continuing education (CE) beyond graduation. Less than 2 percent of general dentists in the U.S. and Canada are AGD Masters. When you see a dentist with MAGD after their name, you can rest assured that they care about knowing the latest techniques and best practices in dentistry. AGD Masters practice these techniques in a classroom setting multiple times a year — not every dentist does this.

To become an AGD Master, a dentist must:

  • Complete over 1,100 credit hours of CE.
  • Earn 400 of those 1,100 credits in hands-on courses.
  • Pass an exam equal in difficulty to board certification exams.

Recognition for Lifelong Learning

In AGD, continued learning persists even after members have earned Mastership. AGD Masters can continue demonstrating their commitment to lifelong learning and service to the community and/or organized dentistry by earning Lifelong Learning and Service Recognition. Dr. Scott is proud to hold this honor!

The Happiest Moments of My Life have been in the Flow of Affection Among Friends.” - Thomas Jefferson, 3rd President of the United States of America

"A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both." - L.P. Jacks (often attributed to Francois-Rene de Chateaubriand)
