Cosmetic Bonding: An Alternative to Porcelain Veneers

101475871

Taking care of your oral health is very important. Brushing and flossing are imperative for superb oral hygiene. However, life throws a curve ball occasionally, and accidents happen. Injuries and trauma can damage to teeth like chipping, fracturing, or cracking them. Porcelain veneers and crowns are generally the preferred method to fixing these issues. However, there is an affordable alternative to these treatments, and it comes in the form of cosmetic bonding. If you would prefer this long-lasting treatment, schedule a consultation with Dr. L. King Scott today.

I’ve Never Heard of Cosmetic Bonding. What is it?

Cosmetic bonding is a very similar procedure to porcelain veneers. Just like the veneers, a liquid composite resin is applied to the injured area of the tooth. The dentist will shade the resin to match the color of your teeth and mold it into the proper shape for your tooth. The treatment only takes one appointment, meaning you can walk into the office with a chipped tooth, and walk out the same day with a fixed tooth that’s ready to chew through your next meal.

How Does the Doctor Conduct the Procedure?

The process for cosmetic bonding is quite simple. A small amount of preparation is needed, as the doctor will need to use a shade guide to match the color of your teeth and get the materials ready. After everything is ready, your tooth with be roughened and a conditioning liquid will be applied, which helps the bonding material attach to the tooth. The resin is then applied to the tooth, molded, and smoothed out, fulfilling the desired shape. After the material hardens, the dentist will smooth out any rough areas and polish the resin. The entire process takes about 30 to 60 minutes. That’s all there is to it! When finished, you can walk out of the office, able to show off your smile.

Can I Schedule This Procedure?

If you are considering this procedure as an affordable alternative to veneers, then please call our office as soon as possible so we can effectively treat the injured area. We are always happy to treat both new and returning patients, and our doors are open to West Monroe, LA, Monroe, Ruston, Rayville, Farmerville, Columbia, South Arkansas, and the greater North Louisiana area.

Using Dental Insurance Benefits Before the End of the Year in Monroe

October 31, 2013

It may seem hard to believe, but 2013 is rapidly coming to a close. Before the year is over, the staff at Dr. King Scott’s office recommends that our patients take the time to review their insurance plans to make sure they took full advantage of their dental insurance benefits this year.

If you’ve been delaying a dental checkup appointment, now is a good time to come in because this is one of the services covered by most dental insurance plans. This is a fundamental component of good oral health. Also, if you’ve been putting off any dental work and it’s either covered by your plan or you’ve met your deductible, now is the time to schedule those appointments. Your plan’s coverage will not roll over at the end of the year, so any benefits that you do not use will be lost.

Every dental insurance plan is different, so it’s important to check with your insurance company to make sure you fully understand everything that’s available to you. You can also call our office for additional clarifications. We want to make sure that our patients are keeping their smiles shining bright by taking full advantage of their dental benefits. The end of the year is often a busy time filled with holidays and other events, so make sure you schedule your appointment today.

Porcelain Crowns from Dr. Scott Can Complete Your Smile

October 7, 2013

Here at Dr. King Scott’s dental office, we offer a variety of choices when it comes to restorative dental work. One of our most popular choices is porcelain crowns. This restoration allows us to restore health to a damaged or decayed tooth while still allowing it to blend seamlessly with your smile.

If you have a tooth that is cracked, broken, decayed or worn, it’s important to restore it with a porcelain crown. A crown fits snugly over your tooth like a cap to help restore strength and protect your tooth against further damage. It will also help to keep your bite in proper alignment.

Porcelain is a great choice of material for your crown restoration because they’re carefully color matched to resemble the rest of your smile. No one will be able to tell that you’ve had any dental work performed. Also, this material is durable and long-lasting, so with proper care and maintenance it will last you a long time.

If you have a tooth that’s suffering from damage and decay, don’t put it off any longer. Give us a call today so we can get started on your porcelain crown. This is an important restorative dental procedure that helps keep your smile healthy.
